SPARK HAS BEEN AWARDED WELL CORE&SHELL CERTIFICATE AS THE FIRST IN POLAND

26.11.2019 News

Spark C, an office building located in Warsaw’s Wola district, has just received one of the most demanding certificates – WELL Core&Shell. After obtaining the WELL certificate, granted to the office space on the 5th floor in Spark, now the entire building has been assessed as a healthy and comfortable place to work. This is the first such distinction in Poland and the second in the CEE region after the Visionary office building in Prague, which was also developed by Skanska.
– This is another key step in our strategy, in which we set trends in the quality of office projects on the polish market. The projects we implement have been for many years synonymous with the highest class of green building. We strive to meet the majority of WELL certification requirements. Receiving WELL Core&Shell for the entire Spark building opens a new chapter for us. The certificate is a proof of adapting the space to the needs of people and creating the healthiest work environment on the market. It also confirms that the most important in Skanska’s projects is a human – user of our offices. This is a great distinction, as well as strengthening our company’s position as a leader in the field of innovative and sustainable construction – emphasizes Arkadiusz Rudzki, managing director of the Skanska office company.

– All of our investments that are at the design stage will take into account the WELL Building Standard guidelines and apply for this certificate. Generation Park Z and Y in Warsaw, the next stage of the New Market in Poznań, Centrum Południe in Wrocław and Wave in Gdańsk will be the next WELL Core&Shell certified buildings – he says.

The WELL Building Standard, developed by the International WELL Building Institute (IWBI), is a certification system, that measures the quality of office space, by verifying over 100 features of a building, taking into account its impact on the health and physical and mental well-being of workers. It is a holistic view on the health, well-being and comfort of people in office buildings and additionally complements the standards of green construction.

The five floors of the Spark office building, occupied by the Skanska group, also received the LEED Commercial Interior (LEED CI) certificate at the Platinum level, with an excellent 90 points – the best result  in Central and Eastern Europe. Thus, the building can already boast five certificates – WELL Core & Shell and WELL New & Existing Interiors as well as LEED C&S and LEED CI, as well as Facility without Barriers, awarded by the Integration Foundation.
